BACKGROUND

Same as other gemstones like diamond and emerald, jadeite has all kinds of natural inclusions and characteristics. Because of this, trade members and customers understand and accept the presence of inclusions, natural lines and other characteristics in the stone. Eye-clean piece are especially valuable because they are very rare.

In addition, the non-uniformity in texture, marks, spots and colour in the stones constitute a strong point of the product, as they distinguish it from those chemically treated one (Type B or Type C jadeite) and imitations.

Valuation of jadeite – the 3Cs and 3Ts

Color
The most highly priced color is imperial green – a pure, even vivid green coloration with smooth texture and high transparency. But jadeite can comes in many lovely colors - green, lavender, red, yellow, white and black. All these colors can be attractive and the valuation depends on the uniformity of color and the level of transparency of the piece.

Generally mottled or streaked pieces are less attractive. However markings that are intense and sharply defined and contrast with the gem’s main body color can be very valuable. Good crafted pieces that show a highly artistic use of the rough’s mottled color also enhance the value of the piece.

Transparency
Jadeite’s transparency ranges from completely opaque to semi-transparent. Because light penetrates below the surface, semi-transparent jadeite has an alluring brilliance. It almost appears to glow, increasing the charm of a lush green or rich lavender hue. Opaque or pieces with cloudy patches that break up their transparency are less valuable. Good transparency can sometimes compensate for lack of uniform color or low saturation.

Texture
High quality Jadeite has a smooth, even texture that makes people want to touch and hold it. Jadeites’ texture can be fine, medium, or coarse, depending on variations in crystal size and hardness. Sometimes the different types of texture are referred to in the trade as old mine (finest texture), relatively old mine (medium texture), and new mine (coarser texture). The crystal structure that contributes to jadeite’s texture also contributes to its exceptional toughness, which allows it to take a high polish, and has better luster.

Cut
Jadeite can be fashioned into many different forms; bangles, rings, pendants, cabochons and beads are the most common forms. There are different criteria used in evaluation of the quality of cut in carved jadeite. For evaluating carvings, large or small, one should focus on the form, proportions, contours details, and design and also on how the artist makes use of color in the raw material.

Because color is important in establishing a jadeite piece’s value, the craftsman must maximize the effects of hue, tone, and saturation by adjusting a jadeite piece’s proportions.

A good craftsman can minimize the effect of the natural characteristics on the finished stone and transform rough into exquisite ornaments and jewelry.

 
Carat or Weight
The weight of a piece of worked jadeite is usually measured in grams and large pieces of rough are measured in kilograms. The effect on value of size or weight is not as great as with most other gemstones. However because of jadeite’s rarity, a large piece with good color, transparency and texture will be much highly priced than a similar piece of smaller size.

Treatments
Because the right combinations of color, transparency, and texture can raise the value of jadeite to spectacular levels, some manufacturers use treatments to improve jadeite’s appearance without notifying the customers so as to sell at a higher value. The trade groups jadeite into three basic types:

“A”, “B”, “C” jade is trade terms commonly used for jadeite in jade industry.

Type A

Natural jadeite enhanced only with wax and does not contain any harmful chemical substances.

Type B

Jadeites that are chemically bleached in strong acid to remove impurities and paraffin wax or clear polymer resin are impregnated to enhance translucency. The material after treatment is more likely to break and the luster fade over time.

Type C
Dyed type B jadeite to enhance its brightness. Same drawback as Type B jadeite, the color and luster fade over time.

Forms of Payment
We offer convenient online payment options for customers by accepting Visa and MasterCard, PayPal and Alipay. The payment currency is US dollar. We reserve the right to withhold and decline any orders if there is any doubt of the credit worthiness of the customers.

Delivery
We deliver to most of the countries, except restricted areas, hotels and Post office boxes. Each item is carefully packed for safe delivery and sends by registered airmail within 15 working days upon confirmation of payment. We only engaged the most reliable and reputable delivery service partner, however we do not accept responsibility for delays caused by such services.

Taxes and insurance
Please note all taxes levied by the destination country are to be borne by the recipient and all insurance are to be arranged by buyer.

Upon receipt of your shipment, please inspect your items immediately and keep all original packing. If you want to return any items, please inform us by email the order number and details of the item(s) to be returned. All items must be returned with original packing and by registered mail within 7 days upon receipt of shipment to:

Refund will be credited back to your credit card account, PayPal or Alipay account subject to items returned in good condition and not altered.
